Roger Gathman
Not only do I consider myself very fortunate to be a painter in the beautiful state of New Mexico, but also to be included in this special group of people. Plein Air Friends has motivated, inspired, and supported my ongoing development as an artist in so many ways. Getting feedback on fieldwork, right on the spot, is priceless. Having their observations and suggestions on studio work when I get bogged down and don't know where to go next, is treasured. It is so refreshing to be associated with like-minded artists who all feel they are on a journey of discovery. Every meeting we have together is an honest give-and-take with egos left on the shelf. Critiques are given with the idea of helping each other become stronger painters. My favorite day of the week is when I get to meet my friends en plein air!
